Using HCL Docs
HCL Connections™ Docs is a new office productivity suite for working on documents, spreadsheets and presentations together. It provides real-time co-editing, allowing users to work on documents individually or collaboratively. Comment on a document, or even participate in a discussion. All this without the need of desktop software.
Working with documents
Work on a document by yourself or collaborate on files with your colleagues. You can comment on a document, or even participate in a discussion. All this in real-time. Upload an existing Open Document Format or Microsoft™ Word file or create a document to begin.
Editing documents
When you edit a document, you can set formatting properties, such as fonts, alignment, and indentation. You can create a bulleted or numbered list, insert a link, create a header or a footer, and use spell-checking. You can also print your document.
Formatting text in documents
You can specify font effects, set font size, align text, and more. You can also create bullets or numbered lists to insert in a document.
Copying and applying formatting
Use the Copy Formatting icon to copy formatting from one place to another in a document.

  HCL Connections™ Docs is a new office productivity suite for working on documents, spreadsheets and presentations together. It provides real-time co-editing, allowing users to work on documents individually or collaboratively. Comment on a document, or even participate in a discussion.   - Publishing a version of a file
    In order for readers to see a draft created in HCL Connections Docs, or edits made in Docs, a new version of the file must be published. As of August 2015, if a file is being created or edited in Docs for the first time, publishing is set to occur automatically. If a file was previously created or edited in Docs, you must either enable the Publish Automatically command in that file, or publish each new version manually.
  - What if I have a file conflict?
    A person can decide to upload a new version of a file while another person is editing the file online or has saved an online file that is not yet published. The new uploaded version is stored in Files as its own version number, and you are warned of the conflict the next time you try to edit the file from the Files list.
  - Reverting to last version
    When you are editing in HCL Connections™ Docs, if you are not satisfied with the current version of your document, you can revert to the last version that was published. You can choose to save or discard your current edits before you revert to the last version of a document.

    You can view an uploaded document, spreadsheet, presentation, or PDF file while you are working in Files.

        Setting font effects
        You can set font effects for the selected text. You can make the text bold, italic, and strikethrough. You can also specify font colors.

        Setting font size
        In a document, you can set font size for the selected text, and increase or decrease the font size quickly.
        Aligning text
        You can align text at the left, right, or center, or justify it.
        Indenting text
        You can change the indentation of the selected text.
        Adding bullets or numbers in documents
        You can add bulleted or numbered lists in a document.
        Copying and applying formatting
        Use the Copy Formatting icon to copy formatting from one place to another in a document.
        Creating multilevel lists in documents
        Insert indented ordered lists or an outline that contains a document's section headings.
      - Inserting bookmarks
        In a document, you can insert a bookmark.
      - Inserting links
        In a document, you can insert a link to a web page, an email address or a bookmark.
      - Creating headers and footers
        You can create a header at the beginning of a document, or a footer at the end of a document. You can also edit and hide headers or footers after you create them.
      - Creating a table of contents
        You create a table of contents by first adding headings in your document at the appropriate levels.
      - Inserting fields in documents
        You can insert a date, time, and page number either in the text area or in the header and footer area.
      - Spell-checking documents
        You can choose to check the spelling of the entire document when you finish it or instantly check spelling as you type.
      - Searching in documents
        You can search for words or phrases in a document and specify whether the results match the case, the exact search term, or both. You can also replace a single instance of a search result or all search results with a new word or phrase.

        You can navigate the document through the navigation pane.

        You can control line and page breaks by setting up paragraph properties.

Copying and applying formatting

Use the Copy Formatting icon to copy formatting from one place to another in a document.

About this task

With Copy Formatting, you can save time by copying the text and paragraph properties from text that you already formatted to other text in the document, including text within tables and objects. Examples of properties that can be copied are fonts, colors, spacing, alignment, bullet styles, and so on.

Procedure

Select the text or paragraph that you want to copy formatting from.
Click the Copy Formatting icon .
Your cursor changes to a paintbrush.
Drag the paintbrush over the text that you want to apply the formatting to, and then release the mouse button.

Note: If you want to copy formatting for several times, double-click Copy Formatting. Your cursor changes to a paintbrush. Drag the paintbrush over the text that you want to apply the formatting to.
