Lesson 5: Creating the value stream

You can learn about creating the value stream in HCL DevOps Velocity (Velocity).

About this task

Value stream represents the objects and activities that create and deliver value to the customer, from initial concept to final delivered project. Value streams are displayed on the Value stream page in individual cards that provide status information and links to the value streams.

Procedure

Perform the following steps to create a value stream:
  1. Log in to Velocity.
  2. In the Velocity home page, on the left navigational panel, click Value streams.

    The Value streams page is displayed.

  3. Click Create value stream.

    The Create Value Stream dialog is displayed.

  4. Type a name for the value stream in the Name field. For example, TUTORIAL
  5. Optional: In the Description field, enter a description for the value stream.
  6. In the Team list, select the default team or the team to which you belong.
    Note: The teams that are available in the Team depend on the permissions granted to your user role.
  7. Click Create & Configure.
  8. Under the Step 2, in the Application Lifecycle Management Integration field, select the Jira integration you had created in Lesson 1: Integrating with Jira. For example TUTORIAL_JIRA.
  9. In the Source Code Management for Git field, select the GitHub integration you had created in Lesson 2: Integrating with GitHub. For example TUTORIAL_GITHUB.
  10. Click Next.
  11. In step 3, click Save.

    Optional: You can select the query for different stages to display the information from Jira and GitHub, and then click Save.
