Administrator Guide
This guide describes how to install HCL DevOps Test UI (Test UI) software. After you install the software, you can perform administration tasks such as license configuration and integration with other products. This guide is intended for administrators.
License management
Licensing for HCL DevOps Test UI (Test UI) is administered through HCLSoftware License & Download Portal (FlexNet Operations Cloud). This portal is a FlexNet-based web application that helps to manage software entitlements and licenses.
Collecting usage metrics data
To provide an insight into the usage patterns of the product itself and not necessarily the application that it is testing, the usage metrics are collected. The product can collect the metrics about the usage of the tool including and not limited to the number of tests executed, the number of actions performed against an application under test, the number of successful versus failed actions, verification points, and so on.

  - License description
    You require floating seat licenses to use HCL DevOps Test UI (Test UI). If you want to run AFT Suites or parallel execution of tests on more than 5 channels, you require execution licenses.

    You can find information on the installation of HCL® Local License Server 3.0 in the offline mode and the supporting tasks such as pre-installation, post-installation, upgradation, and uninstallation.

Collecting usage metrics data

To provide an insight into the usage patterns of the product itself and not necessarily the application that it is testing, the usage metrics are collected. The product can collect the metrics about the usage of the tool including and not limited to the number of tests executed, the number of actions performed against an application under test, the number of successful versus failed actions, verification points, and so on.

Before you begin

Ensure that HCL DevOps Test Virtualization Control Panel is installed. See the DevOps Test Virtualization Control Panel documentation for the installation instructions.
Ensure that the license key is applied. See License configuration.

About this task

When you collect usage metrics, the data is collected for internal use to provide you better services. For example, in a Web UI test, all user actions such as click, enter text, and so on are counted and collected. No information about the application under test is collected.

Procedure

Click Window > Preferences > Test > Rational Test Control Panel > HCL Quality Server.
Specify the IP address or host name of the computer where DevOps Test Virtualization Control Panel server is installed.

Note: If the IP address or host name is not specified, depending on the license key setting, a warning message might be logged every time you run a test, the test execution itself might be blocked, or the tests can be executed without any warning messages.
Click Test Connection to check whether the connection is established. Click OK if the connection is established.
