About integrating changes
In a parallel development environment, the opposite of branching is merging. A merge calls an element-type-specific program (the merge method) to merge the contents of two or more files, or two or more directories. In the simplest scenario, merging incorporates changes on a subbranch into the main branch. However, you can merge work from any branch to any other branch. You need to be familiar with techniques and scenarios for merging versions of elements and branches. Automated merge facilities are included in DevOps Code ClearCase® to handle almost any scenario.
