To create a repository from which IBM Installation Manager can install product, you must use the IBM Packaging Utility to copy the product package to the repository.

About this task

Packaging Utility can also be used to combine multiple product packages into a single repository location. See the Packaging Utility online help for more information.

Procedure

These steps explain how to copy a DevOps product packages and create a repository using Packaging Utility:
  1. Start the Packaging Utility.
  2. Click Copy Package > Next. The Source page opens. Repositories are listed in the Content table.
  3. Click Open repository, if the repository for your product package is not listed.
Remember: A repository can be a path to a directory in the file system or a URL to a directory on a server.
  4. Click Browse and navigate to the directory containing the DevOps product installation files. Example repository locations:
    • Windows™: C:\installation_files\DevOps_product\disk1\diskTag.inf

  5. Select the repository to copy and click Next.
  6. Accept the License Agreement to continue
  7. In the Destination window, select an existing repository directory from the drop-down list or click Browse... to select a directory path.
  8. Click Next. Review the repositories selected for copying.
  9. Click Copy.

Example

You use the Packaging Utility to copy the product installation files into the repository location: C:\install\myrepository. In Installation Manager, you open the Repository preferences page and add the repository location, C:\install\myrepository, to the repository table. You can also place the repository on a UNC drive, or place the repository on a web server to make the directories and files available over HTTP.
