Integrating with other products
You can integrate HCL Connections applications with other products and features.
- Connections Engagement Center
  Connections Engagement Center provides the corporate office, management, and workforce with a single user experience for all communications, as well as a state of the art enterprise social collaboration features and the possibility of adding custom applications. All this runs at the office and on all mobile devices, so the entire workforce – from CEO to intern – can access this most valuable tool regardless of where they are, what their role is, or what devices they prefer.
  - Overview
    Connections Engagement Center is a single, accessible hub for organizational news and content within HCL Connections, enabling users to create and manage web content efficiently. People get engaged with finding, creating, owning, and promoting content to improve intranet communication. All content can be found in one place. Communication and collaboration are on the same page or one click away. Connections Engagement Center makes it simple and easy for users to create content; there's no need for multiple systems to create and publish content. This documentation explains and describes role concepts, site structure, functions of the various Connections Engagement Center features and their usage and configuration.
  - Installing and configuring Connections Engagement Center
    This section provides instructions for upgrading an existing XCC Web Content Management Extension to the Connections Engagement Center. For fresh installations, instructions are provided for planning, creating a database, installing, and then configuring the Engagement Center. Also included are browser links to access the various modes of Connections Engagement Center, and instructions for uninstalling Connections Engagement Center.
    - Upgrading
      The following instructions guide you as you upgrade from XCC to Connections Engagement Center, or upgrade Connections Engagement Center itself to a newer version.
    - Planning
      Consider the system requirements, including which versions of Connections are supported, browser requirements, and modes of operations suitable for your environment and requirements.
    - Creating a database
      Connections Engagement Center provides SQL scripts to create a database. Before you begin, download and extract the installation files to a local directory such as /opt/software/XCC-Installer. Then follow the instructions in this section for creating a database using DB2, MSSQL, or Oracle.
      - Using DB2 as a database
        You must be logged in into the operating system as DB2 administrator when you create the database, typically as db2admin.
      - Using MSSQL as a database
        Follow these steps for creating an MSSQL database and an MSSQL JDBC provider.
      - Using Oracle as database
        Follow these steps for creating an Oracle database and an Oracle JDBC provider.
        Creating an Oracle database
        An SQL script file is included for each supported RDBMS in the Connections Engagement Center zip file. The SQL scripts can be found in the subdirectory SQLScripts.
        Creating an Oracle JDBC provider (optional)
        You can skip these steps if you elect to use the default JDBC provider that Connections Activities uses. The Activities JDBC provider is used as the default in the install.properties file when you install the Connections Engagement Center. If you want to have a clear separation for the Connections Engagement Center database, follow these instructions.
      - Migrating a database
        You can migrate each supported database to another supported database. Sometimes you also want to have a new environment. For example, when you want to upgrade HCL Connections. Therefore, you don't need to work on the database, you only need to work with the user interface of Connections Engagement Center.
    - Installing
      The Connections Engagement Center Application can be installed on WebSphere Application Server as well as on a WebSphere Application Server cluster. If you want to have Connections Engagement Center logs separated from other HCL Connections logs, create a new WebSphere Application Server.
    - Configuring
      Configure context roots, paths, themes, backups, and modes of access. Add a link to the navigation bar, include a birthday widget, and customize labels for languages. You can personalize widgets, edit the HCL Connections proxy configuration for the iFrame widget and Clipping, configure the landing page, rebuild the search index, import and export XML files, and configure for Internet Explorer compatibility mode.
    - Debugging
      Debug any page by first enabling debugging and then appending a parameter to any Connections Engagement Center URL.

    - Uninstalling
      The procedure to follow when uninstalling Connections Engagement Center depends on which Connections 6.0 critical release you have updated to.

Creating an Oracle database

An SQL script file is included for each supported RDBMS in the Connections Engagement Center zip file. The SQL scripts can be found in the subdirectory SQLScripts.

2	Run the SQL Plus tool available from your Oracle installation:
3	Log into the system and run the following command: `@path_to_ICEC_install_files/Create_XCC_Oracle_Database.sql` Note: If you do not want to use the SQL script, make sure that the user "XCC" has the necessary access rights to the database. Close the command window.

Edit the script and change the user for accessing the ICEC database in the following statement:

CREATE USER "XCC" PROFILE "DEFAULT" IDENTIFIED BY "Pa88w0rd" DEFAULT TABLESPACE "XCCTABSPACE" TEMPORARY TABLESPACE "TEMP" ACCOUNT UNLOCK;

Run the SQL Plus tool available from your Oracle installation:

Log into the system and run the following command:

@path_to_ICEC_install_files/Create_XCC_Oracle_Database.sql

Note: If you do not want to use the SQL script, make sure that the user "XCC" has the necessary access rights to the database.

Close the command window.
