How do I edit file properties?
You can edit properties for a library file, including custom document type properties, and then upload the updated file to the library.
Procedure
To edit the properties for a library file, complete the
following steps.
- Click the file title in any view to open its summary page.
- Select More Actions > Edit Properties.
- Edit the file name and description.
- In the Document type section click Change to
change the document type. The default document type is set by the
community owner in the community library settings. The selection of
document types is specified on the Enterprise Content Management (ECM)
server. See Document types for more information.
Note: This option is only available with IBM® FileNet® Content Manager, and it is only available when the community owner has configured library settings to allow members to change the document type for individual files. For more information, see Managing a community library.
- Select Show only required fields to display only required fields in the document type section.
- Select Show inline help text to display inline help text for fields in the document type section. Inline help provides information on how to fill in fields.
- Edit the available properties as needed. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. For example, *Sales Date.
- Select one of the following options:
- Check In. Uploads the file and makes
it available to library users. Note: If draft review is enabled for your library, the Check In option is not available. Instead, you must submit the file for review by clicking Submit for Review. Your file will be checked in when it is approved by the designated reviewers.
- Save as Draft. Uploads the file as a draft. Only you can see and work with drafts until you check them in. To check in a draft, open the file summary page for the draft and click Check In.
- Update Draft. Updates the draft version of the file. This option only displays when you have checked out the file.
- Check In. Uploads the file and makes
it available to library users.
