Creating a query from a query result set selection

You can create a query by selecting records from a query result set.

About this task

The new query uses the same display fields and sort order as the existing query. The filters have been changed to select by ID, and no longer use the original filter criteria from the original query.
Note: Creating a query from records that you select from a query result set only works with state-based records. Also, you cannot use Create Query from Selection on a full-text search result set.

Procedure

  1. Run a query.
  2. On the current page of the query result set, select the records to use in the new query.
    • To select multiple consecutive rows, press the Shift key while selecting the records.
    • To select multiple nonconsecutive rows, press the Ctrl key while selecting the records.
  3. Right-click one of the selected records, and then click Create Query from Selection.

Results

Two new tabs are displayed. One tab displays the Query editor for the new query. The Query editor displays the same fields and sort order as the original query. Filters map to each of the record IDs that you selected in step 2. The other tab displays the result set for the new query.
