Deleting a user database

Deleting a user database from the HCL Compass environment removes the link between the schema repository and the user database. The physical database is not deleted, nor is the schema associated with it.

Before you begin

You can restore a deleted database at a later date by restoring the link between the database and the schema repository. The link to a deleted database is permanently lost if you delete the schema version associated with the database or if you upgrade to a newer version of the product.

You cannot delete a schema repository.

Procedure

  1. Start the Designer.
  2. In the HCL Compass Schema Repository Explorer view, click on the schema repository where you want to delete the database.
  3. Click View > Database Admin. The HCL Compass Database Admin view opens.
  4. In the HCL Compass Database Admin view, right-click the database you want to delete and click Remove.
  5. Click OK to complete the delete operation.

Results

After you delete a user database, you can delete the physical database.

If the physical database is not deleted, you can restore its link to the schema repository.
