Setting HCL Compass preferences

You can set HCL Compass preferences in the Preferences window.

About this task

To set Compass preferences:
  1. Click Preferences.
  2. In the User Preferences dialog box, select a tab and change settings.

    The options for each tab are described in the following table.

    General
    Display Properties view Displays the HCL Compass properties item in the left pane. This item lists properties for selected records or queries. cleared
    Load Startup Query Result Runs the query and displays the number of new items that have been updated since the last login. If the check box is cleared, you have to click the You have (number) new items link, when you want to load the new items query and display the results. selected
    Multi-Record Update
    Page size for Multi-Record Update Sets the maximum number of records in a result set that are affected by a multirecord update. This value or the site configuration value is used, which ever is smaller. If the value is out of range, a warning symbol is displayed. 100
    When the page size can be increased Identifies what HCL Compass should do when the number of records displayed on the result set page is less than the value that is set in the Page size for Multi-Record Update option and there are more records in the result set that are not currently displayed. The choices are: Always increase it, Always use the query as-is, and Always ask me. Always ask me
    When the page size must be decreased Identifies how HCL Compass responds when the number of displayed records on the result set page is greater than the value that is set in the Page size for Multi-Record Update option. The choices are: Always reduce it and Aways ask me. Always ask me
    Result Set
    Number of rows in one page Set the number of rows (20, 50 or 100) that are displayed on a page. 20
    How to open related records Controls how related records that are opened from a record are displayed. Select Floating window to open records in a floating window or select Tab to open records in a new tab within the current browser window. Floating window
    Result set and record details display Displays the result set and records in the same pane as the Result Set view. The split view option displays the records and result set in a different panes. Single View
    Result set date format Controls the date and time format that is displayed in a query result set (on-screen, printed, and exported) and in the history and reference list controls on a record form.
    • Long Date displays Month DD, YYYY HH:MM:SS AM/PM time zone offset where time zone offset corresponds to the time zone of the current user. (Example: June 15, 2000 12:00:00 AM GMT+08:00)
    • Medium Date displays Mon DD, YYYY HH:MM:SS. (Example: Jun 15, 2000 12:00:00 AM
    • Short Date displays MM/DD/YY HH:MM AM/PM. (Example: 06/15/00 12:00 AM
    Long Date
    Sort method Sorts records within the rows that are displayed on a single page when the Current® Page option is selected. If you select the Entire Result Set option, the rows are sorted across the entire query result set, but the operation takes longer.
    Note: The two sort methods might not order the records in the same way.
    Current Page
    Display custom record view by default Opens records in the custom view instead of the tabbed view. selected
  3. Click Save. The properties that you set become effective immediately.
Note: The Reset button restores the default settings and erases all HCL Compass favorite entries.
