Support for JDK 8, WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5.5, and Rational Application Developer V9.5.0.2
WebSphere Application Server announced the end of service for WebSphere Application Server V7 and IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 6. To reduce the risk of security exposures and to ensure that you can continue to apply future WebSphere Application Server and Java-related fixes, install Version 8.5.5. Version 8.5.5 includes IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, Version 8.
Your WebSphere Commerce Version 7 entitlement now includes entitlement for the following software:- WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 Base and Network Deployment.
- Rational Application Developer Version 9.5.0.2. This version is needed to support WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 in the WebSphere Commerce Developer environment.
If you upgrade to WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5, you must migrate your custom WebSphere Application Server configurations. Plan your efforts before you upgrade. For more information, see End of Support for WebSphere v7.0, v8.0 and Java 6 in WebSphere v8.5, April 2018 .
- If you intend to continue running WebSphere Commerce Version 7 on WebSphere Application Server V7, Java 6 support is limited to Usage and Known defects only. For information, see WebSphere Commerce v7 is adding support for WAS 8.5.5.
- WebSphere Commerce version 7.0.0.10 is a concept level fixpack that includes following three
WebSphere Commerce fixes to enable your environment to support Java 8. These three fixes are
prerequisite to support JDK8.

IFJR60297 is a licensing fix for the JDK update. This fix comes as 7.0.0.9 version, but it has no prerequisite check, and can be applied to 7.0.0.7 and 7.0.0.8 too.

- If you are on Feature Pack 6, Feature Pack 7, or Feature Pack 8 you must update to FixPack 9 and WebSphere Application Server v8.5.5 with IBM Java SDK 8.
