Upgrading with the Auto Update Service on Windows™ (on-premises)
Auto Update (AUT) is an integrated Omaha-based automatic update tool (AUT) capability for Notes client updates.
Before you begin
- Upload the latest HCAA installer to the Domino server through AUT Catalog - Version Map and Version path. See Domino 11 documentation for more information.
- Upgrade the AUT configuration on the server.
- Create a policy to enable AUT for HCAA client users.
- Apply that policy to the required users.
About this task
Auto Update is supported on-premises only. AUT on premises for HCAA is supported for Standalone HCAA 3.0.1. It is not supported for HCAA 3.0.1 co-install with HCL Notes versions 11.0.1 or older.
Procedure
- Install HCAA 3.0.1. Once AUT is enabled by your Domino admin, you will see the HCL Auto Update service running with the following message: AUTUpdate for Notes Client is Enabled.
- Click OK. EnableNotesAUT=1 is added in the Notes.ini file, and AUT policy is imported into the user profile ($Profile).
-
After the policy is imported and the security certificates required by AUT
client are added to the user profile, you will receive the following message:
An upgrade is available for HCL Client Application Access. Would you
like to download it now?
- Click No and the upgrade is postponed.Note: The default duration for which it is postponed is 5 hours. Your Domino admin can set the default interval to 60 minutes, after which the AUT client starts automatically if HCAA is running. If no value is set the default duration remains 5 hours.
- Click Yes and the download of HCAA's latest build begins in your %temp% directory. The download runs in the background and you can continue to work with Notes normally. After the download is complete, the file moves to your Notes folder: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\HCL\AutoUpdate\Download.
- Click No and the upgrade is postponed.
-
Once the download is complete, you will receive the following message:
Would you like to complete the upgrade now? If you select Yes, please
close to application for the installation to continue.
- Click Yes. HCAA closes to complete the upgrade installation.
- Click No and the installation stops and HCAA does not upgrade. The AUT process is postponed to the default interval as set on the server, or 5 hours if default interval is not set. After the postponement interval, you will receive a prompt to install HCAA. Click Yes and HCAA will finish installation.
