Interoprability of AppScan® Source and AppScan® Enterprise

As of AppScan® Source version 10.0.2, SolidDB no longer installs as part of the solution. While existing installations of SolidDB/Oracle continue to be supported, new installations must be configured with an integration to AppScan Database Service and AppScan® Enterprise to store and retrieve shared information.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of AppScan® Source, you have the option of migrating data from SolidDB/Oracle to AppScan Database Service, either manually or using the migration utility.

When AppScan® Source is configured with SolidDB/Oracle:
  • AppScan® Source versions 10.0.0 and newer works with any AppScan® Enterprise version. However, we recommend that the AppScan® Enterprise and AppScan® Source versions are offset by two versions at most, with AppScan® Source being the newer version. For example, AppScan® Source version 10.0.4 and AppScan® Enterprise version 10.0.2.
  • If you are using AppScan® Enterprise version 10.0.2 with AppScan® Source version 10.0.3 or newer, configure AppScan® Enterprise by setting the property allow.newer.source.clients=true in asc.properties. AppScan® Enterprise adds this property by default in AppScan® Enterprise version 10.0.3 and newer.
  • Fresh installations of AppScan® Source version 10.0.2 and newer will not connect to database. If AppScan® Source needs to connect to database, then upgrade the AppScan® Source installation instead.
  • If you have upgraded AppScan® Source to maintain the connection to SolidDB/Oracle, use the appscanserverdbmgr.bat/appscanserverdbmgr.sh utility to reregister the database with AppScan® Enterprise if required. In this scenario. you do not need to configure the AppScan® Enterprise AppScan Database Service.
When AppScan® Source is configured with the AppScan® Enterprise AppScan Database Service:
  • AppScan® Source 10.0.2 and newer versions work withAppScan® Enterprise versions 10.0.2 and newer. AppScan® Enterprise versions 10.0.1 and older are not supported by AppScan® Source.
  • Install AppScan® Enterprise versions 10.0.2 and newer with both User Administration and Enterprise Console.
  • If the AppScan® Enterprise version is older than AppScan® Source version, configure AppScan® Enterprise by setting the property allow.newer.source.clients=true in asc.properties. AppScan® Enterprise adds this property by default in AppScan® Enterprise version 10.0.3 and newer.
  • AppScan® Enterprise AppScan Database Service should be configured so that AppScan® Source can connect to AppScan® Enterprise and persist data. Running the appscanserverdbmgr.bat/appscanserverdbmgr.sh utility is not required.

The following matrix details interoperability of AppScan® Source and AppScan® Enterprise.

1. Solid DB is installed with AppScan® Source versions 10.0.0 and 10.0.1. AppScan Database Service is installed with AppScan® Source versions 10.0.2 and later.

2. AppScan® Enterprise version 10.0.0 and 10.0.1 must be configured as follows to interoperate with AppScan® Enterprise 10.0.2 or later: set allow.newer.source.clients=true in \Program Files (x86)\IBM\AppScan Enterprise\Liberty\usr\servers\ase\config\asc.properties.
