Managing a resource definition from the UI
You can create a new resource and add it to tasks or workflows using the UI.
Before you begin
Procedure

Creating a new resource.
- Log in to the UI using valid user credentials.
- Select the Design tab from the home page.
- In the Graphical Designer page, select the Assets tab.
- Click the Plus icon.
- From the drop-down menu, select Resource. The Add new resource dialog opens. Enter valid details for the mandatory fields. If required, you can also specify the optional fields.
Table 1. Mandatory fields Option Description Folder Specify a valid folder name. The name must start with a letter or a number, and can contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores. The name of the folder cannot contain spaces. You must keep the forward slash (/) before the folder name if you want to define an absolute path, while it is not required for relative paths. Name Specify a name for the resource. The name must start with a letter or a number, and can contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores. The name cannot contain spaces. Quantity Specify a positive integer as quantity. Table 2. Optional fields Option Action Workstation Specify a valid workstation. The name must start with a letter and can contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores. The name of the workstation cannot contain spaces. Description Add any description as free text. It can contain alphanumeric characters, dashes, and underscores. - Click Add.

Adding a resource to a task or
workflow.
- In the Graphical Designer page, select the Blocks tab.
- Drag a workflow and drop it into the workspace.
- Click the Add constraints option either in the
task
or workflow.Note: If you want to add the resource dependency to all the tasks in the workflow, select the Add constraints option in workflow. Otherwise, select the Add constraints option within a specific task, to apply the dependency only to that task.
- Click Add new, and then select the Resource Dependency option.
- Click the Name field and then, select the resource from the drop-down list.
- In the Quantity field, enter a valid number based
on the total number of units of the resource.Note: Ensure that shared is set to on, if you want to share the quantity of a single resource in multiple tasks or workflows.Important:

For a task or workflow in plan, if the number of resource units allotted is not available, then the task or workflow remains in READY_WAITING_FOR_RESOURCE state.

If the number of units allotted to a task or workflow does not match with the total quantity of units of the resource, then the task or workflow remains in READY_WAITING_FOR_USER_INTERVENTION.
