New Features

The following list contains the new features or changes in functionalities made to HCL Discover in version 12.2.2.

Feature Description
Discover Collector A new module Discover Collector was introduced in 12.2.2 and it will replace Packet Forwarder and DNCA. The features are as follows:
  • A separate Socket module to send the POST request data to the Discover Transport Service on port 1966.
  • If Transport service is unreachable, the data is queued in Kafka and sent once the connection is established.
  • Multiple Collector instances runs behind a load balancer.
  • Accepts POSTs from UI SDK and Mobile SDK including the JSON payload.
New Dashboard UI Introduced a dashboard with improved visual design making it easy to understand and key information is immediately available.
  • The new dashboard UI aligns with the new design
  • Has device-based responsiveness
New Snapshot Extension Introduced a new Snapshot extension version as the older version was not compatible with 12.2.x release. The new version is compatible only with HCL Discover 12.2.2.

Users who have upgraded to HCL Discover 12.2.2 must install the new 12.2.2 Snapshot Extension and uninstall the previous version.

Users on Discover versions 12.1.x must continue using the older Snapshot extension.

Friction Dashboard A new dashboard named Friction Dashboard is available. It displays static widgets and provides insights on the friction data.
UI SDK Updates The following updates were made to UI SDK:
  • Updated default value (clickInterval) of RageClick from 4,000 to 1,000.
  • Included messageType along with screenViewPath for normalization.
  • Replaced the deprecated Unload with pageHide.
  • Included a persistent and unique visitor ID in every SDK payload to accurately track and stitich together user journeys across multiple sessions and page loads.
  • In the Performance module, replaced the deprecated First Input Delay (FID) with Interaction to Next Point (INP).
  • Productized the DOM Observer module by defaulting it to Off.
  • Productized the AjaxListener module by defaulting it to Off.
  • To ensure privacy on clients that are using Discover with consent banners and to comply to GDPR standards, we introduced the option to switch the Discover UI SDK ON or OFF.
Mobile SDK updates The following updates were made to UI SDK:
  • When exceptions were captured by the SDK and the details posted through to the endpoint, you must include the Screen Name to map exceptions to the screens in reporting.
  • Added support for the latest iOS.
Japanese Language Support Discover portal now supports Japanase language and the support includes UI labels, error messages, help text, and all marketing content.
