Adding a job to a job stream

How to add a job to a job stream by using the Dynamic Workload Console.

Before you begin

To perform this task, ensure the HCL Workload Automation engine connection is up and running.

About this task

Edit or create a job stream and add an existing job definition (on distributed systems) or add a new job (on z/OS system).

Procedure

  1. From the navigation toolbar, click Design >Workload Designer.
  2. Select the engine to which to connect. The Explore area panel opens.
  3. Select the Job stream card.
  4. From the list of job streams that is displayed, select the job stream you want and click Edit.
  5. You can work with the job stream from either the Details view that opens, or from the Graphical view by clicking the related icon.

Adding a job from the Details view

About this task

The Details view shows you a tree-table view of the job stream with all its dependencies, run cycles, and jobs.
To add a job to the job stream:
  1. Click the plus button near to Jobs, and depending on your environment:
    On distributed systems
    Search for the job definition to be added and click Add.
    On z/OS systems
    Select the type of job to be added.
  2. Edit the properties of the newly added job, optionally specifying its scheduling options and time restrictions. For example, you can set a job as Critical if the job submission is critical and must be processed accordingly.
  3. Save the job stream.

Adding a job from the Graphical view

About this task

To add a job from the Graphical View:
  1. Click the Graphical view icon, and depending on your environment:
    On distributed systems
    Right-click inside the graphical view and select Add Jobs or search for the required job by using the displayed Search field and add it to the job stream.
    On z/OS systems
    Right-click inside the graphical view and select Add Jobs, then select the type of job to be added to the job stream.
  2. Edit the properties of the newly added job, optionally specifying its scheduling options and time restrictions. For example, you can set a job as Critical if the job submission is critical and must be processed accordingly.
  3. Save the job stream.

What to do next

If you want to delete the job, click the remove icon Remove icon at the end of the job row.
