Guidelines for choosing a view type
Work in a snapshot view when any of the following conditions
are true:
- You want to optimize build performance to achieve native build speed.
- You want to work with source files under HCL VersionVault control when you are disconnected from the network.
- You want to access a view from a computer that is not an HCL VersionVault host.
- Your development project does not use the HCL VersionVault build auditing and build avoidance features.
Work in a dynamic view when any of the following conditions are true:
- Your development project uses build auditing and build avoidance.
- You want to access elements in VOBs without copying them to your computer.
- (Base VersionVault only) You want the view to reflect changes made by other team members at all times (without requiring an update operation).
- (UCM only) Because a dynamic view can show changes in its associated stream at all times without requiring an update, use a dynamic view for your integration view whenever they are available.
