Specifying the view type
The types of view that you can create depend on whether you are using the HCL VersionVault remote client or the HCL VersionVault local client.
For a summary of client and view types and their relationships, refer to Developing software with HCL VersionVault Explorer.
Controls in the dialog box
The Specify a view type dialog box displays all of the VersionVault view types, but only those view types that are supported by your client are selectable.
Applicability | Control name | Control description |
---|---|---|
HCL VersionVault remote client | Automatic | Specifies an automatic view. The automatic view combines aspects of the web view with those of the dynamic view. Like web views, automatic views are WAN-friendly. Like dynamic views, automatic views use the multiversion file system (MVFS), which supports cleartext pools that are shareable with other automatic views on the client machine. |
Web | Specifies a web view, which is copy-based | |
HCL VersionVault local client | Dynamic | Specifies a dynamic view. Dynamic views are not copy-based, but provide real-time access to VOB objects by means of the multiversion file system (MVFS), which supports cleartext pools that are shareable with other dynamic views on the LAN. |
Snapshot | Specifies a snapshot view, which is copy-based |
