Creating branch types

Use the Create Branch Type option in the ClearTeam Navigator view to create branch types.

Procedure

To create a branch type:
  1. Using the ClearTeam Navigator view, navigate to the VOB where you want to create the branch type.
  2. Click the (+) next to the VOB name to expand the VOB node.
    The Branch Types and Label Types nodes are displayed.
  3. Right-click the Branch Types node and select Create Branch Type.
    The Create Branch Type dialog opens.
  4. In the Name field, specify a name for the branch type.
  5. Specify the scope of the new branch type. Select Ordinary to create an ordinary branch type that can be used only in the current VOB. Select Global to create a branch type that can be used as a global resource by client VOBs in the administrative VOB hierarchy.
  6. If you chose a Global branch type, you can also select the Acquire eclipsing types option to check for all eclipsing branch types in client VOBs and convert them to local copies of the new global branch type.
  7. Optionally, you can enter a description of the new branch type in the Comment field.
  8. Click OK.

What to do next

The new branch type is created in the VOB. You can use the VersionVault Navigator view or the ClearTeam Details view to see all of the branch types that exist in a VOB.
