Increasing paging space on AIX for WebSphere Network Deployment installation
Insufficient paging space can cause the WebSphere® Application Server Network Deployment on AIX® to fail.
- Problem
- A lack of available paging space can cause a WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
on AIX to fail.
When WebSphere Application Server on AIX fails, this error is displayed /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/bin/versionInfo.sh" error=12, Not enough space
- Solution
- Check the paging size by entering this command:
# lsps -a
Page Space Physical Volume Volume Group Size %Used Active Auto Type Chksum hd6 hdisk0 rootvg 2560MB 13 yes yes lv 0
- Enter this command to increase swap size:
# chps -s 8 hd6
If the command fails this error is displayed:
0516-404 allocp: This system cannot fulfill the allocation request. There are not enough free partitions or not enough physical volumes to keep strictness and satisfy allocation requests. The command should be retried with different allocation characteristics.
chps: Cannot change paging space hd6.- Correct the problem by decreasing the size of another volume in rootvg to
free up space for hd6.
For example, enter this command:
chfs -a size=-10G / (or other mountpoint with free space)
