Installing Installation Manager on IBM i
For the IBM® i platform, you can install packages by using silent installations, console mode, or the command line (imcl).
Procedure

Find the software packages you need to
download.
Note: Installation Manager is packaged with IBM WebSphere Application Server, and is called "IBM Enterprise Deployment" within that package.
- Download the packages.
- Extract all downloaded packages.
- Start the Qshell command environment.
- In the Qshell command environment, set umask to 022.
- Choose one of these methods to install:
- Installing or updating Installation Manager silently
- Working in Installing Installation Manager by using console mode
- Working from the Installing packages by using imcl commands

Update Installation Manager to use the latest fix pack:
- Open a browser and navigate to IBM Fix Central.

Locate and download the appropriate fix pack.
For refresh 1 for Installation Manager 1.8.4, search for the following refresh pack: 1.8.4.1-IBMIM-Multiplatform-Update-20160217_1716
- Extract the downloaded file to a temporary location on the server.
- Refer to the previous links for instructions on updating Installation Manager in silent mode, console mode, or by using the command line.
