Installing the stand-alone Sametime SIP Proxy/Registrar
Before you can install the stand-alone IBM® SIP Edge Proxy Server, you first install a Sametime® Media Manager's SIP Proxy/Registrar.
Procedure
- On the computer where you will install the Sametime SIP Proxy/Registrar, log on as root (Linux™) or as the system administrator (Windows™).
- Find the software packages you need to download.
- Download the packages.
- Extract all downloaded packages.
- Install IBM Installation Manager.
- Install IBM WebSphere Network Deployment.
- If Installation Manager is not running already, start it
now:
- Linux: Open a command
window and change to the location where you installed Installation
Manager. The default location is /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse.
To start Installation Manager, type the following command:
./IBMIM
- Windows: Click Start > All Programs > Installation Manager > Installation Manager.
- Linux: Open a command
window and change to the location where you installed Installation
Manager. The default location is /opt/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse.
- Set the repository location by completing the following
steps:
- In the Installation Manager window, click File > Preferences.
- On the Preferences page, click Repositories.
- Add the repository for the Sametime SIP Proxy/Registrar
installation package:
All Media Manager components use the same repository.
- On the Repositories page, click Add Repository.
- On the Add Repository page, click Browse.
- On the Select Repository page, browse to the location where you stored the extracted files for Sametime Media Manager's SIP Proxy/Registrar, and open the IAV subdirectory.
- Click the repository.config file to select it. Click Open, and then click OK.
- Leave the other options set to their default settings and then click Apply.
- Deselect any listed repositories other than Sametime Media Manager.
- Click OK.
- From the main Installation Manager window, click Install.
- On the Install Packages page, select IBM Sametime Media Manager - Version 9.0.0.0 and then click Next.
- Accept the terms in the license agreements, and click Next.
- Select a package group option and accept the installation
directory. Click Next.
Create a new package group - Select this option if you have not installed any other Sametime software on this computer.
Use the existing package group - Leave this option selected if you are installing several Sametime servers on the same computer.
- Select IBM Sametime Media Server 9.0.0 as the feature to install.
- Ensure that Use Sametime System Console to install is not selected, and then click Next.
- In WebSphere Application Server location section, specify the location of the WebSphere Application Server and then click Validate, wait until the button label changes from Validate to Validated.
- In the WebSphere Application
Server Configuration window, for the Select the type of
installation option, select one of the following options:
- Stand-alone -- If you are installing a single server or the first node of a cluster.
- Secondary Node -- If you are installing an additional member of a cluster.
- Provide the following information:
- For the host name, specify the fully qualified host name for the computer you are currently using. Do not use an IP address or short host name.
- If you are installing the primary node, provide the administrative user's ID and password for the WebSphere Application Server.
- If you are installing a secondary node, provide the settings of the WebSphere Application Server deployment manager that manages the SIP Edge Proxy cluster.
- In the Media Service Configuration section, select Proxy/Registrar, and then click Validate. Wait until the button label changes from Validate to Validated.
- In the LDAP section, select Configure LDAP after the installation, and then click Next.
- Review the summary, then click Install to start the installation.
- When installation is complete, ensure that the message The packages are installed appears with a check mark. Verify that there is no error message, and then click Finish.
- Click File > Exit to close the Installation Manager.
