About this task
Follow these steps to store a deployment plan on the Sametime System Console
to be used when you run the installation program for Sametime Advanced. Depending
on the options you select, some steps may not be needed and you will
be instructed to skip those steps.
Procedure
- Plan a product installation.
In the Install
Sametime Advanced Server guided activity, click Create
a New Deployment Plan, and then click Next.
- Deployment Name.
Type a name for the deployment
plan, and then click Next. The name should
be unique and descriptive. It is helpful to include the product and
node type, such as stAdv_primary. The name
can be up to 256 characters in length, is not case sensitive, and
can include special characters as well as spaces.
- Deployment Product Version Selection
Select
the product version you want to install, and then click Next.
- Choose the configuration type.
Select a configuration
profile for this installation, and then click Next:
- Select Primary Node to install the first
instance of the selected Sametime Advanced
Server.
- Select Secondary Node to install an additional
instance of a Sametime Advanced
Server so that it can be clustered with a primary node.
- Select Cell to install a separate deployment
manager with a federated primary node on the same computer.
- Node Federation at Install Time.
If you
are installing a cell profile, skip this step.
Select the Sametime System Console
(or other deployment manager) that will manage this primary node or
secondary node, and then click Next to federate
the new node to the deployment manager.
- WebSphere® Profile
Settings.
Provide the profile settings and then click Next:
- In the Host Name field, type
the fully qualified host name of the server where you will be installing
the new Sametime Advanced
Server.
- In the User Name field, type
a new user name that will be used as the WebSphere Application Server administrator.
This user name must not already exist in the LDAP directory
and must not include spaces.
- In the Password field, type a
password for the administrator account.
- In the Confirm Password field,
the password a second time to confirm it.
- STAdmin credentials
Provide a user name and
password for the chat room administrator account, and then click Next:
- If you want to re-use the account you created in the previous
step, click Use the WebSphere Administrator and
leave the remaining fields blank. This enables the server's WebSphere administrator to
also function as the chat room administrator.
- If you want to create a special chat room administrator account,
provide a user name and password now. This user must not already appear
in the LDAP directory.
- Choose a database for this deployment.
If
you are installing a secondary node, skip this step.
Select
the database that you created for the Sametime Advanced Server,
and then click Next.
- Connect to an LDAP Server.
If you are installing
a primary node or a secondary node, skip this step.
Select the
LDAP server used by your Sametime deployment,
and then click Next.
- Deployment Summary.
Review the summary screen,
and then click Finish.
The deployment
plan is ready to be used for the Sametime Advanced Server
installation.
