About this task
Follow these steps to create a deployment plan on the Sametime System Console.
The deployment plan stores configuration settings that are used when
you run the installation program for Sametime Proxy Server. Depending
on the options you select, some steps may not be needed and you will
be instructed to skip those steps.
Procedure
- Plan a product installation.
In the Install
Sametime Proxy Server guided activity, click Create
a New Deployment Plan, and then click Next.
- Deployment Name.
Type a name for the deployment
plan, and then click Next. The name should
be unique and descriptive. It is helpful to include the product and
node type, such as stProxy_primary. The name
can be up to 256 characters in length, is not case sensitive, and
can include special characters as well as spaces.
- Deployment Product Version Selection
Select
the product version you want to install, and then click Next.
- Choose the configuration type.
Select a configuration
profile for this installation, and then click Next:
- Select Primary Node to install the first Sametime Proxy Server.
- Select Secondary Node to install an additional Sametime Proxy Server that
will be clustered with a primary node.
- Select Cell to install a separate deployment
manager with a federated primary node on the same computer.
- Node Federation at Install Time.
If you are
installing a cell profile, skip this step.
Select the Sametime System Console
(or other deployment manager) that will manage this primary node or
secondary node, and then click Next to federate
the new node to the deployment manager.
- WebSphere® Profile
Settings.
Provide the profile settings and then click Next:
- In the Host Name field, type
the fully qualified host name of the server where you will be installing
the new Sametime Proxy
Server.
- In the User ID field, type a
new user name that will be used as the WebSphere Application Server administrator.
This user name must not already exist in the LDAP directory
and must not include spaces.
- In the Password field, type a
password for the administrator account.
- In the Confirm Password field,
type the password a second time to confirm it.
- Connect to Community Server.
If you are installing
a secondary node, skip this step.
Select the deployment plan
that represents the Sametime Community
Server to which this new Sametime Proxy
Server will connect, and then click Next.
- Choose a database for this deployment.
If
you are installing a secondary node, skip this step.
Select
the Sametime Proxy Server
database that you created, and then click Next.
- Deployment Summary.
Review the summary screen,
and then click Finish.
The deployment
plan is ready to be used for the Sametime Proxy Server installation.
