This guided activity takes you through the steps of creating
deployment plans, which collect information that pre-populates installation
screens for IBM® Sametime® Media Manager servers.
Before you begin
If you are using this guided activity to install Sametime 8.5.2, you must
follow the version 8.5.2 documentation in the Sametime wiki to ensure
that the instructions are correct for your deployment.
The following
servers must be installed and running:
- LDAP server
- Sametime Community
Server
Tip: Find the most up-to-date help, and translated
versions of the help, in the product documentation published on
IBM Knowledge Center.
About this task
Follow these steps to create a deployment plan on the Sametime System Console.
The deployment plan stores configuration settings that are used when
you run the installation program for Sametime Media Manager servers.
Depending on the options you select, some steps may not be needed
and you will be instructed to skip those steps.
Important: Create
the deployment plans for all of the Media Manager components before
installing any. The sequence for creating deployment plans depends
on your Media Manager topology:
- Separate SIP Proxy/Registrar and Conference Manager components:
- SIP Proxy/Registrar
- Video Manager
- Conference Manager
- Video MCU
- Combined SIP Proxy/Registrar and Conference Manager on one computer:
- Video Manager
- Combined SIP Proxy/Registrar and Conference Manager ("PR+CF" option)
- Video MCU
You must install the components in the same sequence that
you created the deployment plans.
Procedure
- Plan a product installation.
In the Install
Sametime Media Manager guided activity, click Create
a New Deployment Plan, and then click Next.
- Deployment Name.
Type a name for the deployment
plan, and then click Next. The name should
be unique and descriptive. It is helpful to include the product and
node type, such as stMediaProxReg_primary.
The name can be up to 256 characters in length, is not case sensitive,
and can include special characters as well as spaces.
- Deployment Product Version Selection.
Select
the product version you want to install, and then click Next.
- Media Manager Feature Installation.
Select
a Media Manager component to install, and then click Next.
You must create deployment plans in the following sequence:
- Install Proxy/Registrar: If you plan to
install a SIP Proxy/Registrar on its own computer, create this deployment
plan first. If you plan to cluster the SIP Proxy/Registrar, it cannot
share a computer with the Conference Manager and you must use this
option for your first deployment plan.
- Install Video Manager: If you plan to install
a Video Manager, create this deployment plan after you have created
the Install Proxy/Registrar deployment plan.
- Install PR + CF: If you plan to install
both the SIP Proxy/Registrar and the Conference Manager on the same
computer, create this deployment plan after you have created the Video
Manager deployment plan. If you plan to cluster the SIP Proxy/Registrar,
it cannot share a computer with the Conference Manager and you must
use the Install Proxy/Registrar option instead.
- Install Conference Manager: If you plan
to install a Conference Manager on its own computer, create this deployment
plan after you have created the Video Manager deployment plan. If
you plan to cluster the Conference Manager, it cannot share a computer
with the SIP Proxy/Registrar.
- Install Video MCU: If you plan to install
a Video MCU, create this deployment plan last.
- Choose the configuration type.
If you are
installing a Video MCU or a Video Manager, skip this step.
Select
a configuration profile for this installation, and then click Next:
- Node Federation at Install Time.
If you are
installing a Video MCU or a Video Manager, or if you are installing
a cell profile, skip this step.
Select the Sametime System Console
(or other deployment manager) that will manage the new node, and then
click Next to federate the node to that deployment
manager.
- WebSphere® Profile
Settings.
If you are installing the Sametime Video MCU, skip
this step and proceed to step 8.
Provide the profile settings
and then click Next:
- In the Host Name field, type
the fully qualified host name of the server where you will be installing
the new Sametime Media
Manager server.
- In the User ID field, type a
new user name that will be used as the WebSphere Application Server administrator.
Note that the MCU is not a Websphere process but must have
a username and password created for it. This user name must not already
exist in the LDAP directory and must not include spaces.
- In the Password field, type a
password for the administrator account.
Restriction: Video Manager only: If you use Admin as
the user name, you must use admin as the password.
- In the Confirm Password field,
type the password a second time to confirm it.
- Connect to an LDAP Server.
If you are installing
any component or profile other than a Proxy/Registrar cell, skip this
step.
Select the LDAP server used by your Sametime deployment, and
then click Next.
- Connect to Community Server.
If you are installing
a Proxy/Registrar, a Video MCU, or a Video Manager, skip this step.
Select
the Sametime Community
Server that this new server will connect to, and then click Next.
- Install Sametime Video
Manager.
If you are installing a Proxy/Registrar, a
Video MCU, or a Video Manager, skip this step.
Indicate whether
your deployment will include a Sametime Video Manager component,
and then click Next:
- Select Do not add a Sametime Video Manager if
you are deploying the Sametime Communicate
offering, which does not does not support video conferences.
- Select Add a Sametime Video Manager if
you are deploying either the Sametime Conference or the Sametime Complete offering,
which support video conferences.
- Connect to a SIP and Proxy Registrar Server.
If
you are installing a combined Proxy/Registrar and Conference Manager
(PR+CF), a Proxy/Registrar, a Video MCU, or a Video Manager, skip
this step.
Select the Proxy/Registrar server that this Conference
Manager will connect to, and then click Next.
- Deployment Summary.
Review the summary screen,
and then click Finish.
The deployment
plan is ready to be used for the Media Manager component installation.
Repeat
this guided activity for each type of Media Manager component before
starting any installations.
