IBM® Sametime® consists of a variety of servers and clients, and can be deployed to suit many different environments. The deployment instructions are organized by feature set, beginning with the minimum components that are necessary to support instant messaging, and then expanding the deployment to include features such as audio and video support, and conferencing.
Clustering servers for high availability and failover
You can provide failover and load balancing in your deployment by creating a cluster of multiple IBM® Sametime® servers of the same type. All Sametime servers can be clustered except for the Sametime System Console, and the Video MCU and TURN Server components of the Sametime Media Manager.

The IBM® Sametime® Media Manager includes several components. You can install the components separately and optionally cluster some of them.
Clustering Sametime® Video Managers
Clustering the IBM® Sametime® Video Manager consists of setting up replication and deploying a load balancer in front of the Video Manager servers.
Setting up the Video Manager server load balancer
Install a load balancer on each Video Manager server, and then deploy an IP sprayer in front of them to distribute HTTP and SIP connections among the load balancers.

The IBM® Sametime® Conference Manager communicates with Sametime Video Manager cluster through an IP Sprayer. Update the Conference Manager's stavconfig.xml file with the host name and port numbers of the IP sprayer.

The IBM® Sametime® Conference Manager communicates with Sametime Video Manager cluster through an IP Sprayer. Update the Conference Manager's stavconfig.xml file with the host name and port numbers of the IP sprayer.

Procedure

Browse to the IBM WebSphere® Integrated Solutions Console on the server hosting the IBM Sametime System Console.
Log in to the Integrated Solutions Console as the WebSphere administrator.
In the navigation tree, click Sametime System Console > Sametime Servers > Sametime Media Manager.
Select the IBM Sametime Media Manager server whose stavconfig.xml file you are updating.
On the Configuration tab, in the VMGR Server section, complete these steps.
1. In the Host Name field, enter the IP sprayer host name.
2. In the HTTP(s) Port field, enter the https port number for the IP sprayer.
3. In the SIP port field, enter the SIP port number.
Click Apply and OK.
