Enable the First Party Call Control feature in IBM®
Sametime® Connect and Sametime Embedded clients by configuring settings in the
client installation package's plugin_customization.ini plug-in.
About this task
Enabling the FPCC feature requires you to edit the plugin_customization.ini
plug-in file. When FPCC is enabled, the SIP Phone page displays in the client
Preferences dialog box.
Procedure
-
Open the plugin_customization.ini plug-in file for editing.
-
Enable the FPCC feature and the SIP Phone preferences page.
You must enable the FPCC feature before you can configure any settings for it. Enable the First
Party Control feature by setting the following preference:
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime/enableFirstPartySip=true
When you enabled FPCC, users see a new SIP Phone page in the Sametime Connect Preferences dialog box,
as shown in the following image.
-
(Optional) Enable the "early start" feature.
The early start feature allows users to place calls through the Sametime client interface before logging in to Sametime, or after logging off.
Enable the early start feature by setting the following preference:
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.telephony.sipphone/earlyStart=true
-
(Optional) Allow users to make calls without preregistering with the third-party SIP
server.
Be default, users must preregister with your own SIP PBX before making calls by completing the
registration settings in the SIP Phone preferences page as explained in Preregistering for SIP calls. Requiring user preregistration makes it easier to manage web
traffic and control access to phone numbers. If your company does not use a dedicated SIP registrar
for telephones but you want to allow users to make direct audio and video calls (for example, to
call into web conferences), you might want to disable this requirement.
You can disable the requirement by adding the following preference to the file:
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.telephony.softphone/mfw.server.type.fpcc=off
When preregistration is not required, users only need to specify their domain information and a
preferred display name before making the call, as explained in Placing a SIP call without preregistering.
-
Save and close the file.
-
Distribute the updates to users as explained in Distributing updates and optional features to clients
