Install the SiteMinder agent for the IBM® WebSphere® Application
Server on a computer where IBM Sametime® is installed.
Before you begin
Set the JAVA_HOME
environment variable to
the location of the WebSphere JRE.
About this task
This procedure details some of the specifics for installing
the SiteMinder agent for the IBM WebSphere Application Server,
and should be used with the standard SiteMinder documentation. This
task applies to a WebSphere Application
Server where one of the following Sametime servers
is installed:
- Sametime Advanced
Server
- Sametime Proxy Server
- Sametime Meeting
Server
Procedure

On the computer hosting the deployment manager for the Sametime server, log in as root (Linux™) or the system administrator
(Windows™).
Typically the deployment manager is the Sametime System
Console.
- Extract all files from the ZIP file,
ca-12-asa-was-install-unix.zip
,
provided by the SiteMinder contact. - Launch the WebAgent executable or script for unix by entering
this command:
./ca-asa-was-12-sp*.sh
Where
the * represents the Service Pack number of the agent.
- Continue running the installation wizard.
- When the installation is done, complete these steps:
- This Agent requires the use of Java™ UnLimited Cryptography or the host registration
will fail. Download the relevant ones for your Java version from :
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/security/index.html
.
Copy the two policy files from unrestricted.zip
to
the WAS/AppServer/java/jre/Lib/Security
directory
of your Java install.
- Change the file permissions for these policy files by
entering these commands:
chmod 744 local_policy.jar
chmod
744 US_export_policy.jar
- On the Host Registration pane, complete these fields,
and then click Next.
- Policy Server IP Address -- The IP Address
of your SiteMinder Policy Server.
- SM Admin Username -- Obtain the user name
from the administrator of your SiteMinder Policy Server.
- SM Admin Password -- Obtain the password
from the administrator of your SiteMinder Policy Server.
- Host Name -- The name of the Host you
want to register.
- Host Config Object -- Created on the Policy
Server.
- Complete the configuration.
