Only 64-bit builds are produced. There is no 32-bit or ARM Windows build, and no 32-bit Linux build.

Account and server

  • An account on a Domino Workspace server that your administrator has enabled for desktop synchronisation.
  • Network access to that server over HTTPS. If your organisation routes traffic through a proxy, you can enter the proxy details in the client — see Settings reference.

Some features described in this guide only appear when the server supports them. If a menu entry mentioned here is missing on your machine, it is usually because the corresponding server feature is not enabled for your account.

Disk space

The client itself needs roughly 500 MB once installed.

Beyond that, the space you need depends on how much of your account you keep on the computer:

Every file you select is stored in full on your disk. Plan for at least as much free space as the total size of the folders you choose, plus room to grow. Use selective sync to keep that total down.

The client also needs temporary space while transferring: large files are written to a temporary file in the sync folder before being put into place, so avoid filling a disk to the last few gigabytes.

Permissions

  • Windows — installing requires local administrator rights. Running the client afterwards does not.
  • macOS — installing requires an administrator password. Depending on where your sync folder is, macOS asks you to grant the client access to that location after the first launch.
  • Linux — the AppImage runs from your home directory and does not need root.

Firewall and network

The client talks to your server over HTTPS on port 443 unless your administrator has configured something different. It also opens the system's default browser once, during sign-in, to complete authentication.

For live updates the server may push change events to the client. When that channel is unavailable, the client falls back to polling on a timer, which you can adjust in General settings.
