Domino Workspace Requirements

System requirements for Domino Workspace are the sum of the requirements for the individual components and are impacted by the number of users that it needs to support.

As a reference point, a kubernetes cluster with the following specs will support around 6,000 users.

CPU 110
MEM 800GB
SAN 6TB

Domino Workspace also relies on several services that we assume to be available at the customer environment:

  • An S3-compatible bucket — required by Loki (log storage, if log aggregation is needed) and by Huddo Boards (board attachment storage).
  • A Kubernetes StorageClass — see storage setup.

HCL Domino

Deployed as one of the Domino Workspace Helm charts — see HCL Domino for installation and Domino server topology for the server set.

Resource Requirements:

Per server, by role (type), from the chart defaults:

Role Servers (default topology) CPU request Memory request CPU limit Memory limit
admin 1 500m 2500Mi 2 8Gi
srvmgr 1 500m 2500Mi 2 8Gi
files 4 500m 2Gi 2500m 6Gi
mail 4 (two clusters) 500m 12Gi 4 28Gi
ontime 2 500m 1Gi 2 3Gi
smtp 2 100m 512Mi 500m 3Gi
iq 2 100m 512Mi 500m 3Gi
ldap 2 200m 1Gi 1500m 3Gi

The default topology of 18 servers reserves roughly 7 CPU and 67 GB of memory (requests) and can burst to about 39 CPU and 176 GB (limits).

Storage:

Each server has a ReadWriteOnce data volume; files and mail servers add DAOS and (for mail) split mailbox and NIFNSF volumes.

Role Data volume Additional volumes
admin 50Gi —
srvmgr 20Gi —
files 20Gi DAOS 100Gi
mail 50Gi Mailbox A + B 100–400Gi each, DAOS 100–200Gi, NIFNSF 80Gi
ontime / smtp / iq / ldap 20Gi —

Default topology persistent storage totals roughly 3.8 TB. Size the mail volumes to the user population — see Scaling and adding capacity.

Alloy

Documentation: - Supported Platforms - Estimate Grafana Alloy Resource Usage

Installation: - Domino Workspace setup guide - Install Grafana Alloy

Resource Requirements:

Refer to the official Grafana Alloy documentation for platform support and resource sizing guidance.

cert-manager

Installation: - Domino Workspace setup guide - Install cert-manager

Resource Requirements:

Resource Request Limit
CPU 10m–100m 500m–1000m
Memory 32Mi–64Mi 256Mi–512Mi

Notes: - Memory usage scales proportionally with the number of watched custom resources and TLS secrets. - Production environments should explicitly define CPU and memory requests and limits. - The above values are typical starting baselines for the core cert-manager controller. - Increase the memory limit when managing thousands of certificates.

ClamAV

Deployed as one of the Domino Workspace Helm charts — see ClamAV for installation.

Documentation: - Recommended System Requirements

Resource Requirements:

Refer to the official ClamAV documentation for recommended system requirements.

Apache APISIX

Installation: - Domino Workspace setup guide - Installation Guide

Resource Requirements:

Refer to the official APISIX documentation for system requirements and sizing guidance.

kube-prometheus-stack

Installation: - Domino Workspace setup guide - kube-prometheus-stack Helm chart

The Domino Workspace Grafana dashboards ship with the Domino Helm chart (grafana.dashboards.enabled) and are picked up automatically by Grafana's dashboard sidecar once kube-prometheus-stack is installed.

Resource Requirements:

Small Cluster — 1–5 Nodes

Component CPU Memory
Prometheus ~2 cores 4–8 GB
Grafana ~0.5 core ~512 MB

Notes: - Scale Prometheus resources based on the number of time series and scrape frequency. - Configure persistent volumes for data retention. - Actual resource requirements may vary depending on workload and monitoring configuration.

Collabora

Deployed as one of the Domino Workspace Helm charts — see Collabora Online for installation.

Platform Support: - Linux x86-64 - Linux ARM64 (aarch64)

Resource Requirements:

Resource Baseline
CPU 2 cores
Memory 1 GB + 100 MB/user
Network 100 kbit/s/user
Disk 350 MB
