Verifying the side-by-side migration

After finishing all side-by-side migration tasks, do some testing to verify the migration is successful.

Procedure

  1. Start HCL Connections™ Docs 2.0 applications in the new environment.
  2. Follow the instructions in Testing your deployment to test the environment information.
  3. Verify the applications by completing the following steps from Files application:
    1. Open an old document that was edited in the old environment.
      1. Verify that the HCL Docs application opens and that you can edit and save the document.
      2. Navigate back to the Files application to verify that this document has been modified and enrolled with HCL Connections.
      Note: This step verifies that the HCL Docs extensions and servers are installed correctly. If any of these steps fail, first check for errors in the WebSphere logs for the HCL Docs server and the Connections server (if necessary). See the Troubleshooting and support section for common issues.
    2. Publish a restored document:
      1. Select a document that you restored from the old environment, and then click the Edit in Docs button.
      2. Make changes to the document.
      3. Select File > Publish Now.
      4. Verify that a "Version published" message is displayed.
      5. Navigate back to the Files application to verify that there are now two versions of the document.
      6. Select the Versions tab and click the download link for the second version.
      7. Open the file in your local system to verify that the new content is in the downloaded file.
        Note: This step verifies that the Document Format Conversion server and HCL Docs server are installed correctly. If any of these steps fail, first check for errors in the WebSphere logs for the Conversion server and the HCL Docs server (if necessary). Additionally verify that you do not have a virus scanner scanning the network drive and that (when possible in your environment), NETBIOS is disabled.
    3. Co-edit a restored document:
    1. Select a document you restored from old environment, and then click theEdit in Docs button.
    2. Select File > Share. Type the person's name with whom you want to share the document as Editor.
    3. Log in with the shared editor's account, and open the document to enter the co-editing mode.
    4. Make changes to the document. The document owner sees the editor's highlighted changes.
      Note: This step verifies that co-editing works well in a large-scale deployment, and that the Editor Proxy server is installed correctly. Additionally, it verifies that the correct modifications to the plugin-cfg.xml have been completed and propagated to each web server.
  4. View a restored document:
    1. Select a document that you restored from the old environment, and then click the View button.
    2. Verify that the Viewer opens and that the document's content is correctly displayed.
    3. Click the Edit button on the toolbar.
    4. Verify that HCL Docs opens.
