Upgrading HCL Docs 1.0.6 to 2.0 on Windows

Follow these steps to upgrade HCL Connections™ Docs 1.0.6 for Windows to version 2.0.

About this task

Make sure you upgrade databases when upgrading to 2.0 following instructions in Upgrading the database.

Procedure

  1. Download the DOCS_INSTALLPKG_FILENAME.zip file, for example, CNNCTNS_DOCS_2.0.0_WINLNX_ML.zip, from IBM Passport Advantage. Extract the contents to C:\software.
  2. Depending on whether Installation Manager is 32 byte or 64 byte, do one of the following actions:
    • For the 32-byte Installation Manager:
      1. Copy C:\software\upgrade\106\windows\32\com.ibm.docs.im.installer_1.0.6.20141106_1604.jar and C:\software\upgrade\106\32\com.ibm.docs.im.installer_1.0.6.20141106_1604_SE.jar to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry\metadata\Offerings.
        Note: A non-administrative user must copy the files to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry\metadata\Offerings.
      2. Open C:\software\upgrade\106\32\installed.xml and copy the "IBM Connections Docs" section to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installed.xml.
      3. Open C:\software\upgrade\106\32\installRegistry.xml and copy the "IBM Connections Docs" section to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry.xml.
    • For the 64-byte Installation Manager:
      1. Copy C:\software\upgrade\106\windows\64\com.ibm.docs.im.installer_1.0.6.20141105_2328.jar and C:\software\upgrade\106\64\com.ibm.docs.im.installer_1.0.6.20141105_2328_SE.jar to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry\metadata\Offerings.
        Note: A non-administrative user must copy the files to C:\Users\user name\AppData\Roaming\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry\metadata\Offerings.
      2. Open C:\software\upgrade\106\64\installed.xml and copy the "IBM Connections Docs"section to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installed.xml.
      3. Open C:\software\upgrade\106\64\installRegistry.xml and copy the "IBM Connections Docs"section to C:\ProgramData\IBM\Installation Manager\installRegistry.xml.
  3. Manage the properties files. For windows, the installation directory is C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs, use the following table to create each new directory and identify the 1.0.6 properties file to copy to it.

    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Docs\config 1.0.6 %docs_install_root%/config/*
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Conversion\config 1.0.6 %conversion_install_root%/config/*
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Viewer\config 1.0.6 %viewer_install_root%/config/*
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Docs\version 1.0.6 Docs %docs_install_root%/version/version.txt
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Conversion\version 1.0.6 Conversion %conversion_install_root%/version/version.txt
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\Viewer\version 1.0.6 Viewer %viewer_install_root%/version/version.txt
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\DocsExt\version 1.0.6 Docs Ext %docs_install_root%/extension/version/version.txt
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\ViewerExt\version 1.0.6 Viewer Ext %viewer_install_root%/extension/version/version.txt
    mkdir C:\IBM\ConnectionsDocs\DocsProxy\proxy\version 1.0.6 Docs Proxy %docs_install_root%/proxy/version/version.txt
  4. Start the installation program and click Update.
    Note:
    • When upgrading from 1.0.6, if the manually created directories or copied data are missing, the feature panel will provide warning message. Click the displayed feature randomly if you want to ignore the warnings.
    • Keep the selections for the products integration and components unchanged when you update.
