To secure test data, you must encrypt datasets. You can encrypt
one or more columns of a dataset using a password. You are prompted to enter your password when you
run a test that utilizes dataset with encrypted variables.
Before you begin
You must have created a test that contains a dataset.
Procedure
- Double-click the dataset in the Test Navigator.
The dataset is displayed in a browser.
- Right-click the heading of the
column and select Encrypt column. The Encrypt
dataset pop-up window is displayed.
- Enter a password to encrypt the column.
Note: - If you are encrypting the dataset column for the first time, you must re-enter the password in
the Confirm password field.
- If you have already encrypted other columns in the dataset, you must enter the password that you
used previously. You can use only one password to encrypt columns in a dataset.
- Click OK. Asterisks are displayed instead of actual values of the encrypted
variables.
Results
The dataset column is encrypted.
Note: If you forget
the password to a dataset, there is no way to recover the password.
