Running mobile tests

After generating a test from a recording, you can run the test on multiple mobile devices and simulators. HCL OneTest™ UI includes its own generic browser, called the mobile web recorder, for running the tests. Starting with 9.2.1, you can also run tests for iOS applications using the Safari browser and Appium. You can also run tests for Android applications using the Chrome browser and Appium.

Running tests from an Android mobile test client
You can run a test from an Android mobile device or emulator. After the run, the report is automatically uploaded to HCL OneTest UI. You can also view the report on the mobile test client.
Running tests from HCL OneTest UI
After generating a test from a recording, you can edit the test according to your requirements and initiate a test run from HCL OneTest UI. The test actually runs on the mobile test client (mobile device or emulator/simulator). This means that the playback is controlled from HCL OneTest UI. The test results can be viewed from both HCL OneTest UI and the mobile test client.

You can run a mobile test from an iOS simulator or device.
Running mobile tests from a schedule
You can run mobile tests from a schedule if you have a shell-shared environment with HCL OneTest Performance. One scenario is that you run the same mobile tests from a schedule. Other options are that you run the same mobile tests on one mobile device or on multiple mobile devices and emulators in parallel with different user groups. You can set a variable to specify unique mobile devices for each virtual user in a group running the mobile tests. The variable can be initialized from a dataset so that multiple mobile devices are used for each virtual user in a group that is running the mobile tests .
