Uninstalling a deployment before migration
If you migrate HCL Connections™ using the same hardware that you used for the previous release, known as an in-place migration, you must uninstall the earlier version of Connections before you migrate to the new release. You must also uninstall the Cognos® Business Intelligence server if it is installed. If you are migrating to Connections 6.0 side-by-side with your current deployment, you do not need to complete this task.
Before you begin
Back up your current deployment of applications, databases, and customized files and reports. For a list of what to back up, see Getting ready for migrating or updating.
About this task
Notes:
- Deleting Connections data files makes the original deployment unrecoverable. If you plan to reinstall Connections and use your old data, do not delete the data files.
- You do not need to remove Installation Manager files. These files might be associated with other applications.
To uninstall Connections, complete the following steps:
Procedure
- Start the WebSphere® Application Server Deployment Manager.
- Stop all instances of WebSphere® Application Server, including node agents, in your deployment.
- To uninstall a deployment of Connections, start the Installation Manager and then click Uninstall.
- Select the Connections package group and click Next.
- Click Uninstall to begin uninstalling.
- When the process is complete, restart the Deployment Manager.
- Restart all instances of WebSphere® Application Server, including node agents.
- Synchronize the nodes.
- To check the details of the procedure, open the log file named Uninstall.log in the connections_root/logs directory.
-
If you plan to migrate to Connections 6.0 on the same server as the 5.0 or 5.5 deployment, remove the following files:
Notes:
- Except where noted, remove these files from the system that hosts the Deployment Manager.
- Because some of these files might be used by other programs, it is possible that you are not allowed to remove all of the following files.
- You do not need to remove Installation Manager files. These files might be associated with other applications.
- If you installed Cognos® Business Intelligence for the previous release, uninstall those components before you migrate to this release as described in the Uninstalling Cognos Business Intelligence server topic.
