      Use administrative commands to retrieve lists of forums and forum topics. You can narrow down a list of forums to retrieve a specific subset of forums that you want to administer.

      Enable users to take forum topics in one IBM® Connections deployment and post them to a different IBM Connections deployment.
    - Adding a feed for topics and replies
      Add a property to the LotusConnections-config.xml file to add a feed that includes topics and the replies to the topics.
    - Restricting topic editing
      You can restrict the editing of forum topics or replies to their creators. Only a user who created a topic or a reply can edit it.
    - Allowing non-community members to comment in forums
      Allow users who are not community members to comment in forums in public or moderated communities.
  - Administering the Home page
    You can administer site-wide settings for the Home page from the Home page administration user interface or using the wsadmin client.
  - Administering Libraries
    A Library provides the services of an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system to Communities. To enable the use of Libraries, you must make some configuration changes to Connections and to each ECM system that you plan to use.
  - Administering Metrics for Cognos
    Administer metrics in IBM® Connections by modifying configuration settings, backing up data, and running commands to perform maintenance tasks.
  - Administering the News repository
    You administer the News repository using scripts accessed using the wsadmin client. Changes to News configuration settings require node synchronization and a restart of the Home page server before they take effect.

Applying property changes in Forums

After you edit configuration properties, check the modified configuration file in and restart the servers to apply the changes.

Before you begin

For information about the properties that you can edit, see Forums configuration properties.

Procedure

Check in the changed configuration property keys by using the following wsadmin client command:
ForumsConfigService.checkInConfig()
Important: The checkin must be done in the same wsadmin session as the checkout.
Update the value of the version stamp configuration property in the LotusConnections-config.xml file to force users' browsers to pick up this change. For more details, see Required post-customization step.
To exit the wsadmin client, type exit at the prompt.
Restart the Forums application server.
