Run administration and maintenance tasks to keep your environment up-to-date. For example, learn how to customize your deployment or how to use the wsadmin utility to edit configuration files. You can also schedule tasks, maintain application databases, moderate content, or manage users and their roles.

You administer Files using the wsadmin client to specify properties in a configuration file, or run administrative commands.

Enable inline display by changing a configuration property in the files-config.xml file. Then set the inline parameter to true in your download requests.

    - Disabling automatic email notification of file updates
      When an user downloads a file for the first time, Files sets a preference so that the user receives an email notification when the file is edited or commented on. The assumption is that users want to receive email about updates to the file. You can disable this notification using the files-config.xml file.
    - Disabling file versioning
      By default, when a user uploads a new version of a file it becomes the latest version, and all previous versions are kept. Users can see all versions of a file in the user interface. You can disable file versioning in the files-config.xml properties file.
    - Transferring ownership of user files
      As an administrator, you can use a wsadmin command to transfer a user's Connections files to a new owner.
    - Deleting user files from the system
      Use the FilesLibraryService delete commands to delete user files.
    - Finding the location of a stored file
      Use the FilesUtilService.getFileById command to locate a file stored in a directory on a file system.

    A Library provides the services of an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) system to Communities. To enable the use of Libraries, you must make some configuration changes to Connections and to each ECM system that you plan to use.

    Administer metrics in IBM® Connections by modifying configuration settings, backing up data, and running commands to perform maintenance tasks.

Setting a maximum size on libraries

Use FilesLibraryService commands to assign a policies to libraries. A library is a set of files owned by a person or community. A policy sets a maximum size for a library.

Before you begin

To use administrative commands, you must use the wsadmin client. See Starting the wsadmin client for details.

Procedure

Start the wsadmin client.
Start the Files Jython script interpreter using the following command:

execfile("filesAdmin.py")
```
Create a policy to specify the library size, using steps in the topic Working with policies.
Run the following commands to set maximum sizes on libraries:
FilesLibraryService.assignPolicy(string libraryId, string policyId)
Assigns a policy to a library. A library is a set of files owned by a person or community. It includes all versions of the files, but does not include metadata such as comments. A policy sets a maximum size for a library.
No message is printed if the task succeeds.
Parameters:

libraryId

The library ID in the following standard Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) format: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.

policyId

The policy ID in the following standard Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) format: 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.
For example:
FilesLibraryService.assignPolicy("f0d01111-9b21-4dd8-b8be-8825631cb84b", "2d93497d-065a-4022ae25-a4b52598d11a")
FilesLibraryService.assignPolicyBatch(string filePath)
Assigns policies to libraries as specified in a text file. The file must contain a list of library-policy ID pairs, one pair per line, values separated by a comma. For example: libraryId, policyId. Extra whitespace is ignored. You must create this text file and save it in a directory local to the server where you are running the wsadmin processor.

filePath

The full path to the text file, as a string.
For example:
FilesLibraryService.assignPolicyBatch("C:/connections/assign_policies.txt")
