Connections and database sets
Connections and database sets are often referred to interchangeably in HCL Compass.
A database set is one specific schema repository and all of its associated user databases. Typically, all of the schemas and databases for one project are included in one database set. However, one database set can support multiple projects, or one project can have multiple database sets.
A connection is the set of database properties that allow users access to the database set.
You can use connections to manage the environment that team members see. For example, when team members log on to the HCL Compass for Windows® client, they are prompted to select a connection that contains the schema repository to be used, and then to select the user database. If the team is authorized to use databases in only one connection, team members are not prompted to select other connections.
To modify and manage connections, you use the Maintenance Tool.
