Managing products, product overrides and relationships
Manage products, product overrides, and relationships in a merchandised catalog.
Before you begin
- Open commerce lab tools. Navigate to Business Tools.
- Select or create an active workspace.
- Create a merchandised catalog from a base catalog.
About this task
- Product overrides
- Use product overrides to customize product display names, short
descriptions, and long descriptions in a merchandised catalog. Product
overrides support multiple languages.
- Product relationships
- You can create, edit, and delete associations between products such as replacements, accessories, upsells, and cross-sells by using Product Relationships to display related products correctly in the storefront.
Managing All Products
Procedure
- Open the merchandised catalog and navigate to .

Perform the following tasks to manage All
Products:
Tasks Actions Search by code or product name Use Search by code or product name to find products. Filters Use the Filters pane to narrow the product list. Filter by any of the following criteria:
- Parent Category: Displays products that belong to a selected parent category.
- Last Updated Date: Displays products that were last updated on a specific date.
- Filter to this workspace: Select this option to display only products created or modified in the current workspace.
To close the pane without applying changes, select Cancel.
Sorting Sort the product list by Code / Product Name or Last Update Date. View item details Expand a product to view the associated items and their defining attributes. Note: By default, the table displays up to two defining attributes for each item.Detailed view Select the Detailed view icon, to view all available item attributes. View all attributes Select View all attributes to open the Item details window. In the Item details window, perform the following actions:
- View Descriptive Attributes.
- Search for an attribute by name.
- Sort attributes by Attribute Name or Data Type.
- View Pricing information.
- View associated Digital Assets.
Updating product field overrides
Procedure
- Navigate to .
- Open the merchandised catalog and navigate to .

Perform the following tasks to override product information.
Tasks Actions Product code You cannot override the product code. Display name You can override this product information. Short description You can override this product information. Long description You can override this product information. Category You can override this product information. Note: There is no impact of category overrides on the Category Listing and All Products page. The parent category of the product does not change, it remains intact.Do not use this in the merchandised catalog If you select Do not use this in the merchandised catalog, the product is not displayed in the merchandised catalog.
Multi-language Input Select Multi-language Input. The number of selected languages appears in the upper-right corner.
Managing product relationships
Procedure
- Open the merchandised catalog and navigate to .

Perform the following tasks to manage Product
relationships:
Tasks Actions Search by code, name Use Search by code, name to find products. Add Products/Items Select Add Products/Items. Association Select an association type from the drop-down list, such as Replacement, Cross-Sell, Upsell, or Accessory. Remember: You cannot apply the same association type to the same product code more than once.Quantity Enter a value from a one-digit to a six-digit number. Delete Select the Delete icon from the Actions menu. Remember: You cannot edit or delete saved products or items. -
Advance the merchandised catalog from Draft to
Approve by selecting the following
sequence:
Important: The Move to Collaborate, Move to Complete, and Approve actions are available only when you use the Default Catalog Workflow template. If you use the Auto-Approved Workflow template, these actions are not displayed.Note: If you select Reject, the merchandised catalog approval request is rejected. The merchandised catalog stage changes from Complete (In Review) to Collaborate (In Progress).
