Configuring outbound email notification messages

Use the Administration Console to configure outbound email notification messages.

Procedure

  1. Open the Administration Console. Select Store on the Administration Console Site/Store Selection page.
  2. Click Configuration > Message Types. The Change Message Transport Assignment is displayed when you are changing an existing message type. If you are creating a new message, type the New Message Transport Assignment is displayed.
  3. From the Message Type list, click the message that you want to change from the list of available message types. If the message is not listed there, click the New button to create it; in that case, select E-mail as the Transport, and Standard Device Format as Device format.
    E-mail messages
    • BroadcastMessage- Sends broadcast announcements using a JSP template.
    • ActivateTaskNotification- Activate Task Notification.
    • Invoice- Sends invoice details to the buyer contact.
    • ErrorMessage- Notifies administrators of error conditions in Commerce+.
    • InterestItemListMessage- Sends a wishlist or interest item list.
    • PasswordResetConfirmationNotify- Confirms that a password has been updated.
    • MarketingMessage- Sends marketing campaigns via SMS.
    • OrderChanged- Notifies when an order has been modified by a CSR.
    • OrderReceived- Confirms that an order was successfully received.
    • OrderAuthorized- Confirms that an order has been authorized.
    • OrderSummaryReportNotification- Sends a daily summary of new orders.
    • StoreUsageReportNotification- Provides monthly storefront usage reports.
    • ReleaseShipNotify- Confirms shipment of an order release.
    • MerchantOrderNotify- Notifies merchants when a new order is placed.
    • SiteCommerceReportNotification- Sends site-wide commerce reports.
    • StoreCommerceReportNotification- Sends store-level commerce reports.
    • CustomerMessage- Forwards messages submitted by users to administrators.
    • ApproversNotify- Alerts approvers when a request needs their approval.
    • OrderCancel- Notifies that an order has been canceled.

    • PasswordNotify- Notifies that a password reset has been requested.
    • CouponsSavedNotification- Confirms that a coupon has been saved in the wallet.
    • OrderStatusNotify- Notifies when the status of an order changes.

    • ResponseNotification- Sends notifications related to RFQ responses.
    • RFQCloseMessage- Notifies that an RFQ is closed and no more responses are accepted.
    • RFQCompleteMessage- Informs that RFQ winners were selected and a contract/order initiated.
    • RFQSubmitMessage- Notifies that an RFQ request has been transmitted to sellers.
    • UserAccountEmailActivateMessage- Sends account activation instructions after registration.
    Marketing messages
    • Outbound message for HCL Commerce Legacy Order Create.
    • Outbound message for HCL Commerce XML Order Create.
    The Change Message Transport Assignment is displayed.
  4. Click Next. The Message Transport Assignment parameter page is displayed.
    OptionDescription
    Host Type the fully qualified name of your mail server.
    Protocol Type smtp.
    Port Type the port number of the host. For example, 25.
    Send Partial
    true
    Send an email to valid addresses in the Recipient field, even if there are invalid addresses in the same field.
    false
    Send the email only if all addresses are valid.
    Retry Duration The duration (in hours) within which the server can try to reconnect to an SMTP host when the server is down.
    User Name Type the user name to log on to the SMTP server.
    Note: Once the user name is specified, the secure connection to the SMTP server is required.
    Password Type the assigned password to authenticate SMTP server usage.
    Recipient Specify a default recipient. If multiple recipients are specified, separate recipient names with commas. The recipient name is replaced by the customer email address at runtime.
    Sender Specify the sender of the message. This text appears in the Sender field of the email message.
    Subject Specify the subject of the message. This text appears in the Subject field of the email message. You can specify one subject per locale.
    CC Type the email addresses that you want copies of the message sent to.
    BCC Type the email addresses that you want private copies of the message sent to.
    Reply To Type the email address all replies should be sent to.
    Content-Type Specify text/plain or text/html.
  5. Click Finish.
