Managing Policies with Geofencing
Once geofence zones and settings are configured, administrators can apply policies that automatically take effect when a device enters or exits a defined geographic area. This enables location-based policy enforcement, improving both security and productivity.
You can link policies to geofence zones using the Manage Geofence Setting page in WebUI.
Linking Policies to a Defined Zone
- Navigate to Admin → Geofencing → Manage Geofence Setting.
- Click Create Geofence Setting or edit an existing one.
- In the configuration window, select the Associated Zone (previously defined under Manage Geofence Zones).
- Choose the Device Entry and Device Exit policies:
- Entry Policies: Specify which policies should apply when a device enters the zone.
- Exit Policies: Define what happens when a device leaves the zone.
- Save the configuration.
Once saved, the system automatically enforces these rules for all devices mapped to that zone.
Behavior When a Device Enters or Exits a Zone
- When Entering a Zone: The WebUI triggers the selected entry
policies.
- Example: Enable Wi-Fi, push corporate apps, or unlock camera access.
- When Exiting a Zone: The selected exit policies are
enforced.
- Example: Lock the device, disable camera or Bluetooth, remove confidential profiles or apps.
This automatic transition ensures continuous compliance and reduces manual policy management.
Restriction Policies
Restriction policies control the capabilities and features of a device.
For example:
-
Disable the camera or Bluetooth when the device leaves office premises.
-
Restrict Wi-Fi access or screen sharing when outside secure areas.
-
Enforce passcode or encryption policies automatically when entering corporate zones.
These help organizations maintain compliance with corporate data and security policies.
App Policies
App policies define which applications are installed, accessible, or restricted within specific zones.
For example:
-
Allow access to internal productivity apps (like email or CRM) only within office boundaries.
-
Block social media or entertainment apps when inside the workplace.
-
Automatically install or remove a specific app depending on the location.
App policies ensure the right tools are available at the right place, improving focus and reducing security risks.

Example Scenario: How Geofencing Works During Policy Deployment
Setup Steps:
- Define a Zone: Create a geofence zone around the office location in Manage Geofence Zones.
- Create Policies:
- Entry Policy: Enable email access and camera use within the office.
- Exit Policy: Disable camera and email access when outside the zone.
- Link Policies: In Manage Geofence Setting, associate these entry and exit policies with the office zone.
Result:
- When an employee’s device enters the office zone, the system automatically re-enables camera and email apps.
- When the device leaves the zone, the camera and email access are disabled, ensuring no corporate data is captured or transmitted externally.
