AV Exclusions on Windows & MacOS

To enhance performance and stability, it is recommended to configure anti-virus software to exclude specific directories and processes related to the BigFix Self Service Application on both Windows and MacOS. This includes excluding certain folder paths and executable files from real-time scans.

It is possible that if file operations are interrupted or "shimmed" by anti-virus, then the performance is significantly impacted. Sometimes, this can result in errors and instability. To address this issue, configure the anti-virus to exclude the following directories and processes. It is important to note the specifications below are related to the exclusion of folders paths and processes for real-time scans.

The following folder and sub folder paths should be excluded from antivirus scans -
  • On Windows: %DRIVE%:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BigFix Self Service Application
  • On Mac OS X: /Library/Application Support/Bigfix/BigFixSSA
Additionally the following processes should be excluded as well -
  • On Windows: %DRIVE%:\Program Files (x86)\BigFix Enterprise\BigFix Self Service Application\BigFixSSA.exe
  • On Mac OS X: /Applications/BigFixSSA.app/Contents/MacOS/BigFixSSA
