Blocked Application Notifications in BigFix Application Control

When an end user on a BigFix Application Control-managed Windows endpoint attempts to launch a blocklisted or unauthorized application, the system immediately displays a pop-up notification indicating the application is blocked. The user can either close the notification and contact their administrator for more information, or click the Request Access button to submit a formal application exception request.

In a managed device with BigFix® Application Control installed, if any end user attempts to run a blocklisted application or process, they will receive a notification informing them that the application is blocked on the endpoint. The notification message looks like this:

BigFix Application Control pop-up notification dialog on a managed Windows endpoint showing that an application has been blocked by policy. The dialog displays the name of the blocked application, a message indicating the application is not permitted to run, a Request Access button to initiate a formal exception request, and an option to close the notification and contact the administrator.
In such a scenario, a user can take either of the following steps:
  • close the notification and contact his organization’s BigFix Lifecycle Application Control admin for more information or
  • raise an application exception request using the Request Access button.
