Creating Scanner Wrapper for Scanner.

About this task

To use fixlets and tasks from BigFix Inventory version 11.0.2 and later with the use of existing HCL BigFix Scanner 11.0.1 and later installations, it is required to run a one-time action on all scanned endpoints "Create Scanner Wrapper for Scanner 11.0.0.0 or lower." The scanner wrapper detects the former Scanner installations and points to the appropriate scanner executable. If you decide to upgrade the scanner later, you do not need to restart the existing scanner-related actions if they are in version 11.0.1 or later.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the BigFix console.
  2. In the navigation bar, click Sites > External Sites > BigFix Scanner > Fixlets and Tasks.
  3. In the upper right pane, select 'Create Scanner Wrapper for Scanner 11.0.0.0 or lower' .
  4. Click Take Action.
  5. Select the computers on which you want to create the scanner wrapper, and click OK.
    You created the scanner wrapper on the computers in your infrastructure.

Now older Scanner installation can be used with newer actions using Scanner Wrapper.
