Filtering scan data using XRules
To filter the report results, add XRules that identify data to include in the report pack or XRules that exclude data from it. An XRule filter acts like a powerful Search tool in a word processing application that can search for the presence or the absence of something.
About this task
Note: XRules are used within a report pack to filter scan data already collected by a job. For
example, you might want to see all the pages on your website that are written in Spanish. You create
an XRule filter that finds common Spanish words, and apply the Spanish XRule filter to your report
pack. To show all the pages on your website that contain Spanish words, view the Pages
report. To show all pages written in Spanish that have broken links, you would view the Broken
Links report.
Adding an XRule to a report pack might significantly increase the time it takes to run a content scan. How much it increases the time depends on how the XRule is written and what it is searching for.
Procedure
- Go to the report pack's XRule Filters page.
- In the Included Data section, add XRules to include in the report pack, choose a pattern to match, and click the Add icon ().
- In the Excluded Data section, add XRules to exclude from the report pack, choose a pattern to match, and click the Add icon ().
